A Connecticut Beach on Long Island Sound



At Hammonasset Beach State Park, on the Meigs Point side, in Madison, CT. There was COVID testing going on on the opposite side of the park, so we stayed as far as we could from that.

"Hammonasset" means, "where we dig holes in the ground" and refers to the place where a settlement of eastern woodland Indians farmed along the Hammonasset River. In1920, the park was opened to the public
