Just One Look


"Sir, you cannot stand there," the TSA employee said. I watched from the barrier as my daughter wound through the security maze.

"I'm just watching her go."

"I understand that, but you can't watch from there." He was foreign, his accent heavy. I didn't move. "Sir!"

He had no idea who, or what, he was dealing with. At my age, I was exceptionally adept at controlling the beast within, but with just one look... Even in this crowded airport, no one would know what happened.

"Sir!," he barked loudly.

I turned. Our eyes met, and he crumpled to the ground.
