Three holes in the tree. One nose to sniff with. The little white dog picked the biggest one which, when she stood on her back legs, stretched about the entire length of her body to the ground.
As she stuck her nose in, the chipmunk popped out, bouncing over her snout, leaping to the ground, and scrambling to a safer space on the opposite side of the tree.
The spunky Havanese darted around to that same sanctuary entrance as soon as her paws hit the dirt. She gave the hole a quick sniff before settling down to wait and watch.
