Out of My System

We'll have to endure it a long time, just as we endure non-stop conversation and speculation about the NFL draft as soon as the Super Bowl has been played.

Spring training is about a month away, and until then, you can be sure there will be endless stories about the Houston Astros, the high tech sign stealing, and the trash can banging. We hear about how that conduct did or didn't affect other teams.

There will be better-than-thou commentary, and falling-off-the-pedestal commentary. We'll hear from past players who are peaved, and maybe, if we're lucky, a current player or two. And then spring training will start, and the story will blossom again.

And since there hasn't been any announcement about the Boston Red Sox and anything they subsequently did in 2018 or 2019, the firestorm will start again.

Things may quiet down through a lot of the season, but come playoff time, they'll pick up again.

This is how I'm getting it out of my system. Talking early about how frustrating it will be to keep hearing Astros and cheating and sign stealing over and over. I won't say another word about it.
