What the Shamans Taught

"Wisdom of the Shamans: What the Ancient Masters Can Teach Us about Love and Life" (Don Miguel Ruiz, don Miguel Ruiz)

Book Beginnings: "The wisdom you seek is inside you."

Friday 56: "In the Toltec tradition, it was the shamans who first realized that humans were dreaming all the time, and it was the shamans who used the power of their awakening to create the dreams that they chose. As dream masters, the shamans taught that two of the most powerful tools in the dream weren't things like physical strength or mental cunning, but rather imagination and creativity. These are the tools of the artist, and consciously using them is the first step in creating the dream that you want."

    1. Don't know if it's as exciting as all that, but it is an interesting angle on spirituality.

  6. This sounds interesting, Ed. I am not too familiar with Toltec philosophy. Your 56 excerpt particularly interests me. I have always been interested in dreams, including the science of them and how different cultures and people interpret them. I remember the first time I consciously took over one of my dreams, turning around and chasing the monster that had been chasing me. Not that that has anything to do with your reading. Just where my mind took me.
