Irreplaceable


The three alarm fire had drawn crews from multiple station houses. The old house was gone, engulfed in red, yellow, and orange. Memories up in smoke. Tears meandered down his cheeks.

"Tell me you have it," she shouted, seemingly from afar. But she was right next to him.

He turned, panicked, and ran to the car, frantically searching for the bag.

"Oh no, no, no. I can’t replace that!" he said. "Or what's in it."

He fell to his knees as the gravity of the situation socked him square in the gut.

"I can't replace any of it," he whispered.
